Bruce Covernton, Big Fish Staffing Owner and President, has been in the Staffing Industry in Calgary for 12 years. Bruce has strong interpersonal skills and fosters relationships wherever he goes. Bruce was an Offensive Lineman for the Calgary Stampeders. Bruce brings the hard-work, planning and dedication to Big Fish Staffing that helped make him a CFL All-Star, Rookie of the Year, Lineman of the Year, two-time Grey-Cup Champion and Weber State University Hall of Famer.
Charity is very important to Bruce and as one of our founding values, Community, he has created the Big Fish Staffing Community Fund. As an active member in the community, Bruce supports too many groups to list with a main focus on football, suicide services and CUPS. In his spare time, Bruce is a bad golfer but expert when it comes to the BBQ. Bruce likes to travel, is a coffee connoisseur and is currently working on his stand-up routine for Yuk-Yuk’s open-mike 2016 deadline.
Mike Rutherford is an experienced hands on, private equity executive in the oil and gas service sector as well as small exploration and production. Mike has a varied skill set ranging from the board room to the field. Mike is a proud Founder and Director of Big Fish Staffing. Mike was also a founder and Director at Fenway Exploration (now Raging River) and, Founder and Director of Titan Drilling (now Trindad Drilling). Prior to 2004 he was Vice President at Nusco Manufacturing and Supply (now MRC) for 13 years. He began his career in 1981 with Amoco Canada as administrative analyst. After 5 years with Amoco, Mike joined Norcen Energy Resources for 5 years in a number of roles including procurement, liquids marketing (Superior Propane) and M&A. Most recently, Mike has been involved in a number of small private equity deals as an active shareholder. Mike believes in strong business relationships based on trust and respect.
